A permanent fixture of Cartier fashion, the Baignoire - French for ‘bathtub’ due to its distinctive shape but, according to legend, named after the ‘baignoire’ VIP boxes of European opera -  was conceived as an oval-shaped watch by Louis Cartier himself in 1912 as an oval-shaped watch, particularly innovative given that only round and square watches were available at the time. The epitome of Cartier’s dedication to elegance and boundary-pushing, this model was released in 2023 and incorporates classic charm and contemporary touches. Dubbed the ‘Mini’ and naturally a ladies’ watch at 24.6mm, this is nonetheless the largest new model to come with the oval-themed bracelet, the ‘Cartier Bangle’ which mirrors the case shape and the original design in its smoothness and curves. In glistening 18k yellow gold, the thickness of the case is inspired by jewellery, enveloping the dial and making it look ‘bezel-set’, in jewellers’ parlance. The dial itself retains the hallmark stylings of Cartier, with the bold Roman numerals offset by the blued sword hands, ivory white dial and cabochon sapphire crown. Truly Cartier heritage at its finest.
