Rolex Sea-Dweller
Rolex Sea-Dweller
“A stylish and lesser-known alternative to the Submariner - as adventurous as the Sea-Dweller is, it's a watch for connoisseurs.” Nick Baranga, Founder
The Rolex Sea-Dweller was first introduced in 1967, with the goal of building on the work of its little brother, the Submariner, and dramatically extending its underwater utility. This reference, the 126600, was released in 2017 to mark the line’s 50th anniversary, and contains significant technical updates whilst staying true to the aesthetic of the original. The watch’s case size has been expanded to 43mm for greater underwater resistance, and Rolex have added a cyclops window over the date function, as well as fitting the bezel with their scratch-and-fadeproof Cerachrom ceramic. The dial displays modern, highly-visible blue Chromalight lume, but Rolex have rooted the watch in history by reintroducing red text, a nod to the very first Sea-Dweller. With the iconic helium escape valve on the case side, the hallmark Sea-Dweller feature, this watch can descend to a staggering 4,000 feet underwater, 1,300 ft more than the height of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. The Oyster bracelet features the Glidelock extension system, allowing the wearer to adjust the bracelet length up to 26mm and wear the watch on the outside of a dive suit. A rugged classic brought into the modern day.
