Audemars Piguet Quantième Perpetual Calendar

Audemars Piguet Quantième Perpetual Calendar

£60,000.00

One of the greatest horological innovations of the 20th century, Audemars Piguet’s Quantième Perpétuel Automatique redefined the perpetual calendar, the grandest of all complicated wristwatches. Beginning production in 1955, the brand took over as perhaps the foremost exponents of perpetuals, spending over 50 years refining their art. This beautiful example of the rare salmon dial Quantième in 18k white gold is modestly-sized by modern standards, at 36mm, with a slim case featuring a stepped bezel and perfectly-proportioned down-tuned lugs. Its tasteful yet unmissable rosy dial is gorgeously harmonious, displaying the date in the 3 o’clock subdial, the day at 9 o’clock, the month at 12 and the mesmerising moonphase at 6, with all subdials very slightly recessed to add texture. The colour scheme is elegantly complemented by rose-gold applied index markers. A sapphire display caseback shows off the Cal.2120 movement, to this day the thinnest full-rotor self-winding movement in the world, and a true feat of horological engineering. With 38 working jewels, the skeletonised rotor is decoratively engraved and embellished with 21kt gold. Truly the pinnacle of sophistication.
