We’re avid fans of Royal Oak’s in general here at Watches London, as you might be able to tell, and none more so than limited edition references. More unknown than the modern, widely talked about references, this 36mm-Royal Oak has flown under the radar for a number of years, and being fortunate enough to come across one, we thought we’d give it the recognition it deserves. Albeit on the smaller size at 36mm (which we think is one of the most charming attributions to the watch), the Royal Oak in question is in fact a gents watch and was created in honour of their long-term ambassador and ex-professional Golfer, Sir Nick Faldo. Limited to just 450 pieces worldwide, this predominantly-stainless steel Royal Oak distinguishes itself from other stainless steel AP’s through its highly-polished platinum bezel, which contrasts gorgeously to the brushed finish Royal Oak case that we are so familiar with. Its unique aesthetics continue when looking at the dial, in which the watch has luminous Arabic numbers, as well as showcasing the “Royal Oak” signature at the 6 o’clock position. Upon turning the watch over, and inspecting the case back, we are given an engraving of Nick Faldo’s name within the case back steel area, as well as the golfer’s personal signature across the rotor upon the movement - a really lovely touch.

Condition Report:

Finding a watch of this age complete with its entirety of original box and accessories is a rare find in today’s era, and this particular example is one of these rarities. Retaining its original wooden box, outer box, original warranty booklet and even its swing tag, the watch is as complete as they come. Having been worn carefully over its almost two-decade life span, the watch has likely never been polished and retains extremely strong shape throughout both that highly-polished octagonal platinum bezel as well as the stainless steel case itself. Platinum, being both a soft metal and being displayed here in a highly-polished finish, is very easy to mark, but other than some light scratches is in very strong condition. The watch has further been recently tested for time-keeping accuracy and remains perfect.
