Patek Philippe Nautilus “Single Sealed”
Patek Philippe Nautilus “Single Sealed”
“One of the greatest Nautilus models of this generation, the 5712 is a true heavyweight of luxury sports watches.”
The legendary Patek Philippe Nautilus, famously inspired by the shape of a ship’s porthole, first set sail in 1976, and in 2006 the evergreen Gerald Genta-designed line released a compelling mix of historically important watch design, truly complex watchmaking, and undeniable cultural relevance - the 5712. This model’s 40mm case retains the hallmark styling of Patek Philippe, and the brushed bezel contrasts beautifully with the polished case sides and pushers. The textured black-blue brass dial features horizontal grooves and a dark-to-light gradation that plays with light and shadow, changing aesthetics depending on angle, whilst the layout of the watch’s complications is offbeat and provides the watch with an extra dimension. At four o’clock a sub-register measures the running seconds, the top-left of the dial contains a power reserve indicator, and the elegant, eye-catching moonphase complication is at seven o’clock. Powered by the superlative cal.240 movement, visible through the sapphire display case back, the 5712 is an avant-garde twist on an absolute classic.
