Gérald Genta’s Royal Oak is the original luxury sports watch. Inspired by a traditional diver’s helmet, it remains as in-demand as ever as it passes its 50th anniversary, and in this stunningly rare 25730OR we have one of the prized assets of one of the greatest watch lines in history. At 36mm, the watch is sized perfectly for both men and women, and its satin-brushed case and bracelet are crafted from a sumptuous 18k pink gold, Audemars Piguet’s patented private blend, often considered by connoisseurs to be the most attractive rose gold in the world. Its famous octagonal bezel reflects light from all angles with a unique beauty, as does the immaculate integrated bracelet. Extremely difficult to work with as a base, the mother-of-pearl dial displays an irridescence and smoothness that truly glistens on the wrist, whilst the carefully selected purplish/rose hue of the dial material is a perfect complement to the luxurious pink gold case. First introduced in 1992, the dual-time is a hugely useful complication rarely seen on a Royal Oak, and the sunken subsidiary dials add tridimensionality, giving the piece a slight two-tone finish. The dial is uncluttered but features a power reserve indicator, date function, second time zone and a day and night indicator, all powered by an in-house movement which is based on the JLC 928 ébauche, enabling all adjustments to be made through the crown. Finally, the AP signature deployant clasp ensures superlative comfort, completing one of the most aesthetically sensational watches ever seen.

Condition Report:

 In spectacular condition, with a bracelet that shows no stretch whatsoever. We believe this watch is from the early 2000s, as the papers are undated and only stamped by the authorised dealer, but the entire watch appears as-new. The watch also retains its original unstamped crown, rarely seen these days. The watch comes complete with its original box, papers and accompanied by an official Extract from the Archives from AP.
