Rolex Day-Date (Reserved)
Rolex Day-Date (Reserved)
“A glittering, rare example of a cultural icon - the combination of gold, red rubies and shimmering diamonds is unmissable.”
Rolex’s flagship watch, the Day-Date, is a true legend and instantly recognisable even to those who don’t know about watches. It has been worn by several U.S. presidents, Fidel Castro, Tony Soprano and even the Dalai Lama, and was the first watch to ever display the day in full. This particular watch stands out even further for its “String” dial, composed of a continuous circle of brilliant-cut diamonds, with baguette ruby hour markers set against a lemon yellow background, one of the rarest dials in existence. Many would consider this iteration of the Day-Date, the 18038, to be the perfect balance between vintage chic and modern capability, including significant upgrades from the original 1803, such as the "single quick" date set function that allows the watch to rapidly cycle through the date. A watch only produced in precious metals, this piece is 36mm, in 18k yellow gold with an English Day Wheel. It naturally comes on the famous presidential gold bracelet with concealed clasp, which reflects light stunningly from all angles, and the watch is in simply fantastic condition for its age, having undergone a Rolex service in 2023. A gorgeous piece of history.
