Patek Philippe Nautilus Annual Calendar (Reserved)
Patek Philippe Nautilus Annual Calendar (Reserved)
“Patek is the master of bringing classic timepieces to the modern era, and in the 5726 they have stayed true to the Nautilus’s origins while harnessing a tonne of modern horsepower.”
The legendary Patek Philippe Nautilus, famously inspired by the shape of a ship’s porthole, first set sail in 1976, and almost fifty years later Gérald Genta’s iconic design remains at the technical and aesthetic pinnacle of watchmaking. At 40.5mm, this model 5726 is masculinely-sized but retains the hallmark styling of Patek Philippe, and the brushed bezel contrasts beautifully with the polished case sides and pushers. The textured brass dial, “inspired by the dial colour of the original Nautilus”, in Patek’s words, features horizontal grooves and a dark-to-light gradation that plays with light and shadow. The dial changes aesthetics depending on angle, and fades from a complex blue at its centre to a blacker tone as it reaches its edge. The watch features an annual calendar complication, a beautifully decorative moonphase, and a date aperture at 6 o’clock that balances the iconic Patek double-hash mark in the 12 position. In true Nautilus fashion, the watch is paired with an integrated bracelet, with mirror-polished central links and fold-over clasp, and is water resistant to 120m. Powered by Patek’s new in-house cal.324 movement, visible through the sapphire display caseback, the 5726 is the epitome of elegance.
