Cartier Tank à Vis, Collection Privée

Cartier Tank à Vis, Collection Privée

£20,000.00

“The Tank à Vis blends heritage, exceptional craftsmanship and beauty, perfectly encapsulating the intentions of Cartier’s Collection Privée.”

Inspired by one of the most elusive Tank models of all time, 1931’s Tank Étanche, the Tank à Vis - French for Tank with Screws due to the distinctive visible screws on its bezel - was introduced in 2001 as part of the exclusive and limited Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP). This model, the 2551, features a rectangular case forged from 18k yellow gold, with an H-shaped bezel with screws in each corner, an homage to the Tank Étanche. The striking and unique handmade dial is divided into two halves, each capable of displaying a different time zone. The dial itself is also crafted from 18k gold, a trademark of CPCP watches, on top of which is layered fine guilloché engraving and a rose motif at each of the twin centres. The watch retains the hallmark stylings of Cartier, with the bold black Roman numerals offset by the blued sword hands, ivory white dial and cabochon sapphire crown. The 2551 is powered by the beautifully-finished cal.9901MC movement, visible through the sapphire display caseback. As a final flourish, the watch comes on an eye-catching blue alligator-leather Cartier strap with an 18k yellow gold Cartier deployant clasp. A remarkable and rare timepiece.
