We always love when watches which we have sold in the past are brought back to us to sell again, and none more so that this ultra-rare, “Neo-vintage” if you will, Royal Oak Chronograph in yellow gold. With most male-orientated Royal Oak’s being 41mm now (in particular ref. 15500 and ref. 26320), gone are the glorious days of perfectly-sized 39mm Royal Oak’s. Further to size changes we’ve seen over the past decade, we’ve also witnessed a shift from both Audemars Piguet and brands like Patek Philippe from using yellow gold in their primary sports models, to the era-popular rose gold, making yellow gold examples such as this (and our listed ref. 15300) much harder to come by. Sporting the infamous Tapisserie pattern dial in a white/silvery tone, the wearer is treated to contrasting black chronograph hands and the seconds hand, as well as through the text imprinted on the dial and date wheel. Further to this, the watch features squared, luminous-filled hour markers, which are no longer used having been replaced in more recent years by more traditional rectangular batons. The combination of yellow gold and brown leather straps is an extremely aesthetically pleasing one, and the watch in question is a value-for-money offering not to be missed.

Condition Report:

Having just returned back from a full Audemars Piguet service this month (putting it under manufacturer’s warranty for two years), the watch appears like-new, and we imagine it to be as it looked when it was first sold in 2010. The movement has been given a full overhaul, clean, and the required components within have been replaced to offer precise time-keeping. Aesthetically, the watch has had an expert polish across the entirety of the case, and alongside this has been fit with a new brown alligator leather strap and a replacement, brand new yellow gold AP folding clasp.
