Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph
“The versatility of the modern Overseas is its trademark, and with the easily changeable straps it’s three stunning watches in one.” Nick Baranga, Founder
Part of the “Holy Trinity” of watchmaking alongside Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin has been at the pinnacle of horology for several decades. In 1977, the brand released a 222nd anniversary sports watch, marking the origin of this model, 2016’s ref.5500V. The first Overseas Chronograph with a fully integrated in-house Geneva Seal movement, the watch also features an innovative quick-release mechanism which enables the wearer to swap out the bracelet for either the rubber or leather alternatives, in seconds without using tools. In Vacheron’s words, this unique and incredibly convenient design feature enables the wearer to “personalise” their aesthetic. The watch’s 42.5mm stainless steel case with fluted bezel beautifully echoes the shape of Vacheron’s emblematic Maltese Cross, as does its integrated bracelet with geometric links. A blue lacquered dial combined with white gold hands, indices and matching sub-dial rings gives the watch a genuine pop when on the wrist. With an additional date aperture at 4 o’clock, the 5500V is a paragon of functionality and style.
