Patek’s newest flagship chronograph, the 5172G, is an evolution of its predecessor the 5170, maintaining the legendary brand’s leadership in manually-wound chronographs - “classic architecture for men,” in their words. Only available in 18k white gold, the watch manages to be simultaneously the sportiest and most classic chronograph in recent memory, with an opaline, rose-gilded dial in a “salmon” colour adored by modern connoisseurs, and luminous white gold Arabic numerals, contrasted with ornate stepped lugs and throwback round guilloched pushers. The dial is completed with white gold syringe hands and a tachymeter scale, giving it a fascinating and unique composition. Patek has updated the case size to an eye-catching 41mm, making the dial easier to read as well as lending the watch a superior presence on the wrist. Patek’s very first in-house manually-wound chronograph movement is visible through the sapphire display caseback, a breathtaking work of art bearing the “Patek Seal”, considered to be a higher standard than the Geneva seal. The watch is completed with a sumptuous alligator leather strap, in a rich chocolate brown, with 18k white gold Calatrava Cross deployant clasp. An extraordinary modern classic.

In excellent overall condition, lightly-worn, the watch comes complete with its lacquered wood box, leather folder, booklets and Certificate of Origin, and remains under Patek Philippe’s international warranty until 2024.
