Quite possibly one of our favourite watches of the past decade, the 5711/1A itself as a reference needs no introduction. However, it’s this particular variant with  its white, horizontally-embossed white “piano dial” which is a firm favourite with the team here. Often much-overlooked over the years due to the popularity of its blue-dial sibling, a colour which has arguably been overused by a number of watch manufacturers with their steel sports watches, the white dial watch very much flew under the radar throughout its production period. Yet when Patek Philippe decided to discontinue first the white dial back in early 2020, and then some time after the blue dial as well, the industry began to realise the sheer lack of white dials available when being compared to the blue. Thought to be as few as every one in ten when being compared to its blue counterpart (prior to both models being officially discontinued), this watch is one for the future, and albeit being valued at less than the infamous blue dial currently, when the hype settles down in years to come, we truly believe it will be the white dial which will take the crown both in terms of desirability and thus market price. Dial aside, the 5711/1A here is the same as all other ones, and remains as slim and as elegant as ever, and is quite remarkably durable, and extremely wearable thanks to the reliable self-winding calibre within, size, and its 120m water resistance.
