Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

£105,000.00

There’s no one better than Patek Philippe when it comes to Perpetual Calendar Chronograph wristwatches - fact. Subjective, but backed up by a long-standing history of expertly created grand complications, one could argue that reference 5270 is one of the most important of them all. The timeline is a pretty incredible one. First ref. 1518, closely followed by 2499, then came 3970, 5970 and finally 5270 (as seen here). All four previous references, and particularly the first two are widely regarded as some of the best watches ever made and fetch millions at auction due to their limited production numbers and thus rarity. However, throughout all of these references, Patek Philippe outsourced, albeit modifying them in-house, the movements within. When 5270 was introduced in 2011, it set itself in history as the first Perpetual Calendar Chronograph in Patek’s history to feature in-house, manual winding movement. At a slightly increased size to its predecessor, the watch is 41mm and just 12.4mm thick which is remarkable considering the complication within. The exact reference, 5270G-013 seen here was in fact introduced in 2013, and was the first version of ref. 5270 to feature the infamous “chin” at the 6 o’clock, incorporated within the newly-added tachymeter scale on the watch’s dial. Discontinued shortly after its introduction after just two years in 2015, the quantities of this particular reference are speculated to be extremely low, an opinion backed up by the lack of these watches available in the world right now.

Condition Report:

Coming to us as an untouched, unpolished watch, this grand complication Patek Philippe is in truly fantastic overall condition. Showcasing some signs of wear from the past five years due to its highly polished, white gold case and clasp, the watch as a whole remains free of any deep scratches or dents. There exists a visible surface scratch on the top right lug of the watch, on its side profile area, but generally the watch is in lovely overall condition. Fitted to its factory black alligator leather strap, and complete with its entirety of accessories, original box and UK-signed Certificate of Origin from December 2015, this watch really is highly regarded and well among the modern greats. Quite possibly one of the last 013’s produced in the world, the watch comes with its original presentation box, which is rare for a Patek Philippe, which includes its correcting stylus and alternate solid white gold case back.
