Part of the “Holy Trinity” of watchmaking alongside Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin has been at the pinnacle of horology for several decades, and in fact are the only haute horlogerie manufacturer to produce a Complete Calendar, as opposed to a Perpetual or Annual Calendar, making it a signature complication for Vacheron. First released in 2021, this 4040T Openface forms part of the ‘Traditionelle’ line, a sophisticated, elegant range that the brand describes as “rich and timeless.” The watch’s open dial lets the wearer see the entire moonphase disk, as well as the disks for the day and month indications, the jumper springs, and the sumptuous in-house Cal.2460 QCL/2 movement, whose main plate and bridges are highlighted by anthracite NAC treatment. The functional and contemporary style of the triple calendar display, complemented by a precision moonphase, gives the watch a deep and detailed aesthetic. As a Complete Calendar, the watch needs adjustment only at the end of any month with fewer than 31 days, which is five times per year. Vacheron’s iconic Maltese Cross emblem, built into the 22k gold rotor and visible through the sapphire display caseback, completes a masterpiece of detail and precision.
