Cartier is a company rich with history across all sectors of luxury, but particularly so within the watch world. This new Cartier Tank Asymétrique is the fourth watch in the Cartier Privé collection. The original Privé Collection actually ran from 1998 to 2008, and was relaunched back in 2015. Since this point, we have seen modern-versions of three iconic models; the Crash, Tonneau, and Cintrée. Yet, it was the relaunch of the Tank Asymétrique which got collectors and Cartier-enthusiasts extremely excited. First launched by the brand back in 1936, the model represented a fascinating shift in design language within the industry, with the move from traditional, round-shaped watches to quirky and unique displays of the time. Instantly recognisable thanks to this case shape (of which its purpose was to make the time more readable to its wearer), the model has been revised by the brand on a few occasions in the past 15 years, all of which remained extremely limited and truly rare, many of which remaining in important collections worldwide. Albeit niche in its design and potentially not for everyone, it’s really only when you get this watch on your wrist where you’re able to appreciate the breathtakingly design and fit of the watch. It’s incredibly special. Launched in three metals; platinum, rose gold, and yellow gold, its this rose gold variant offered here which we believe to be above the rest with regards to its aesthetic qualities. The combination of the rose gold case and buckle with the grey sun-burst finish dial and matching dark grey strap is absolutely stunning, and remains instantly-recognisable as a Cartier thanks to the sapphire-set beaded crown. A true limited edition (of 100 pieces per metal), these watches were only allocated to the most loyal and important collectors across the globe and this first-owner from new example really is a watch for the years to come.

Condition Report:

In like-new condition, and even retaining its original case back sticker, this extremely limited piece is the perfect addition to any watch enthusiast’s collection, especially-so a Cartier lovers’. The case back is further confirmation of its limited nature, in which the watch’s individual number /100 has been engraved into the rose gold. The beautifully-coloured alligator leather strap has only been placed on the wrists for the purpose of photography, and remains in the condition as if it were to be if it was being purchased new from Cartier themselves. Complete with “that” iconic dark red Cartier box and all its accessories, including its guarantee card, the watch remains within Cartier’s internationally warranty under 2022.
