Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph "Stainless Steel Green Dial"
Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph "Stainless Steel Green Dial"
It seems that 2021 was definitely the year of the green dial, most notably with the “final edition” Nautilus reference 5711. However, its this 5905/1A which we believe to be arguably more important and aesthetically impressive (with most preferring the blue dial Nautilus). Not only is this current example the first physical watch for sale within the UK, it is hugely significant given it is the first steel version of the widely popular ref. 5905 Annual Calendar Chronograph. Previously known as a dress watch, and only available in precious metal on leather straps, this 5905 now gives off an entirely new, quite sporty aesthetic, whilst retaining its class and elegance from its 42mm case originally introduced in 2015. Its central talking point is obviously that olive green sunburst dial with white gold applied hour markers, which is just gorgeous and thanks to the finishing displays different tones depending on the environment in which its worn and viewed. The dial layout is well regarded as one of the best in the industry, with perfect symmetry across its day, date and month indicators across its upper arc, as well as through the chronograph counter at the 6 o’clock position. Both its Annual Calendar and its Fly-Back Chronograph function are simultaneously powered by Patek’s own in-hour and self-winding calibre CH 28‑520 QA 24H movement, and the watch requires just one correction per year (at the end of February). With all of these functions sat within a stainless steel case and matching metal integrated bracelet, as well as being water resistant to 30m, it is no surprise as to why the 5905/1A has proved to be one of the most popular watch releases of 2021.
Condition Report:
This brand new Annual Calendar Chronograph reference has never left its box, other than for the purpose of photography. The watch showcases extremely precise mirror-like polishing throughout its entirety of case and bracelet, aside from its brushed central links which contrast beautifully, and rarely remains unsized, and the clasp retains its manufacturer-stickers across the deployant area of the clasp. Complete with its original Patek Philippe piano wood box, leather folder, further booklets and all-important Certificate of Origin, the watch remains under Patek’s international warranty until late 2023.
