Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar
Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar
“Spectacular in the flesh, yet still understated, the 5320G merges modern aesthetics with a classic vintage feel. Patek hit this one out of the park.” Nick Baranga, Founder
Patek Philippe were the first to create a perpetual calendar wristwatch in 1925, and their latest iteration of the grandest of “grand complications,” the 5320G, was an instant hit with collectors and enthusiasts, with roots in vintage Pateks from the 1940s and 50s, combined with the very best of modern engineering. Described by the brand as a “paragon of visual balance and legibility,” the impeccable dial layout displays the time, day, month, date, leap year, day/night indicator, and moon phases, all at a glance. The twin in-line day/month aperture at 12 o’clock is in keeping with the heritage of Patek perpetuals since 1941, whilst at 40mm the white gold case is modern-sized, and is in fact “monobloc” - stamped from one entire block of white gold, a revolutionary technique in case-making. The luminous syringe hands and blackened white gold arabic numerals blend the historical with the contemporary once again, and the lacquered cream dial is gloriously rich and glossy. Visible through the sapphire display caseback is the cal.324SQ movement, finished to the standards of the Patek Seal. Requiring only a one-day correction every 122 years, the 5320 is a titan of a timepiece.
